5-The final piece of the puzzle July 15, 2023

When we bought our building in 2004, we could only occupy half the space we planned on using while the tenants found a new place. It was only supposed to take six months but ended up taking two years. We had to double up our functions in the two bays we had, the machine shop and the assembly shop. So we have spent the last 16 years moving equipment to their final locations which has helped our production flow a lot. Three years ago, Karl moved the paint booth out of the assembly area to its own bay which made a huge difference in both processes. The only thing left was the press brake. It is very heavy as well as being top heavy, way beyond our in-house capabilities to move. We had tried several times over the last three years to get some riggers in to give us a quote. They would say they were going to show up and never show. Different companies-same response. Finally I got fed up. We called the one closest to us and started calling them every day until we got an appointment. When they wouldn’t show up for the quote, we started calling them everyday and eventually they did. The quote was good and we started the process over again to actually get the press brake moved. It only took three calls. So now the press brake is in its final resting place. We were pleasantly surprised to find the correct wiring in place. Darwin. our now retired general manager, was responsible for that because we had to do a lot of electrical work when we moved into the second half of the building. I still have several projects that will help with production but they will be additions, not just moving stuff around.
